City of Peoria, AZ - Butler ASR Well

People Gary Gin

In connection with the City of Peoria’s integrated water reclamation system, LRE Water provided design review, programming and data analytics, well development, commissioning, and permit modification services that resulted in an ASR well capable of recharging 700 to 920 gallons per minute (gpm) of treated reclaimed water from their Water Reclamation Plant to help manage their reclaimed water supplies. Prior to LRE Water’s involvement, this ASR well was projected to recharge 400 gpm.

During the design phase, LRE Water was instrumental in assisting the engineering team in identifying the critical components for recharge and providing guidance on the operational programming logic for recharge operations. LRE Water developed a program for recharge and backwashing operations, and a corresponding dashboard display to help City managers and operators quickly see injection performance of the well and make quick decisions about system operation.  Working closely with City staff, LRE Water helps Peoria create the internal structure for regulatory reporting and data management, which ultimately led to modification of the Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) and Underground Storage Facility (USF) permits.  This ASR well has been operational for over 2.5 years and is consistently recharging 1 to 1.2 million gallons per day.
