Our Environmental Group specializes in Water Quality Standards (WQS) and in helping clients develop protective water quality standards for their local water bodies. We have broad experience in participation in Colorado Water Quality Control Commission water quality standards hearings, both statewide and basin-specific. Our focus is always on protecting the beneficial uses of the water body. We also help clients evaluate the appropriateness of a given water supply for proposed uses, based on its water quality. We identify watershed-level improvements that can be implemented to preserve and enhance water quality despite human-caused disturbances to the natural system. Our group also has expertise in the development and implementation of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) and Wasteload Allocations (WLA) that are designed to achieve and maintain water quality standards. We also have unique expertise in the use of water quality trading programs as a creative and cost-effective solution for dischargers.
